Digital Library:

The Library is housed in a unique Geodesic Dome that is aesthetically structured to act as an Energy Center providing inspiration for the students to get into reading habit. It has 4 floors on the reading side with a seating capacity of 500 and 5 floors on the stocking side to stock 1,00,000 books. At present the Library has 67,000 volumes and subscription to 156 National and International journals. It has a seperate fully air conditioned , Digital Library with a seating capacity of 40. The Institute is member of DELNET, and JCCC. The centre also has of collection of corporate annual reports pertaining to private / public sector undertakings and project reports on different areas of research. The library is laid out spaciously. Its eco-friendly environment provides calm and peaceful environment for learning.

    • Each student is eligible to borrow 5 books at a time of which two are on long time.
    • Each staff is eligible to borrow 10 books at a time of which five are on long time.

    • Compilation of bibliography on the topic of interest.

    • Advanced search facilities on the requested list of books.

  • I :- E-Books: BITES (Board for IT Education Standard) E-library: Collection of 5,000 books available on the net. Society of manufacturing Engineering Collections:Exclusive collections focused on manufacturing & Engineering with handbooks, Titles on Mechanical Engg, Manufacturing, Industrial production and Journals. And the digital library covers almost any computing topic, including computer hardware, software development, AI, Graphics, Networking, IT, Security, The Internet and more.

  • JCCC: http://indest.jccc.inJCCC is J-Gate Custom Content for a group of homogeneous consortia members, and JCCC-INDEST is J-Gate Custom Content for the Indian National Digital Library in Science and Technology (INDEST),is database cum-gateway Service for global journal literature in engineering & technology. JCCC database indexes articles from 3,961+ international and national journals cover-to-cover. Full-text accesses for about 1028+ of these journals are available free through JCCC. Update every week, JCCC indexes about 250,000 articles every year. Besides provided for each article indexed in JCCC.Users can browse the table-of contents of latest and back issues, and search for articles of their choice by the author, title-word, keywords, subject categories, etc. JCCC’s innovative search interface facilities hyper-linked search for author, keywords and journal name, from within the record.
  • III :- DELNET: www.delnet.nic.in AICTE & DELNET have signed a move to :- Promotes access to more relevant information of AICTE approved technical Institute. Create union catalogue of resource available within tech colleges for recourses showing purpose through DELNET.

Background

The Project entitled “National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)”, being jointly executed by the UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IT Delhi provides for i) cross- subscription to e-resources subscribed by the two Consortia, i.e. subscription to INDEST-AICTE resources for universities and UGCINFONET resources for technical institutions; and ii) access to selected e- resources to colleges. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre. The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre.

User Guide/Help

The N-LIST envisages to provide access to e-resources subscribed by the UGC-INfoNet Digital Library Consortium to technical institutions (IITs, IISc and NITs) as well as to 6000+ Govt./Govt.-added colleges. The tutorials on e-resources subscribed by UGC InfoNet Digital Library Consortium are given below. Besides universities would also get access to e-resources subscribed by INDEST-AICTE Consortium. Hostels:

The Institute offers a separate hostels for Boys and Girls with well furnished rooms. We run our hostels in a green and peaceful environment which welcomes students. These hostels will accommodate more than 750 students comfortably. The hostel cleanliness comforts to ace hygiene standards. Mess facilities are also available to provide the hostlers with nutritions and quality food.

Science and Technology Entrepreneur Park" (STEP)

Sri Siddhartha Institute of Technology was established in the year 1979 under the ambit of Sri Siddhartha Education Society Tumkur, as one of the self-financing institute. Presently this has grown as one of the premier Technological institutes in Karnataka state. In recognition of the growth and strength of the institute, World Bank selected 14 colleges as better performing institutes for the implementation of the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (with the Govt. of Karnataka) during 2004. SSIT runs 9 Under Graduate and 5 Master Degree Programmes. It has state- of- art facilities in labs and Class rooms. It is serving the society through a variety of programmes. Community Service is a part of the activity. Both students and staff are involved in these programmes. In retrospect, Sri Siddhartha Education Society was started during 1959 by the veteran Late Dr.H.M.Gangadaraiah (HMG) with the blessings of the Saint, Seer Vinobha Bhave. The society presently runs more than 80 institutions in the state, including a Medical, a Dental, a Nursing, and Engineering. The institute is presently managed by Dr. G.Parameshwara, Former Higher Education Minister of Karnataka as Joint Secretary and Dr. K.A.Krishnamurthy, as Principal. Further appreciation our potential, strength and effort, University Grant Commission (UGC) has accord us the status of University College (under the ambit of Sri Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education).

In recognition to its Continuing efforts in bringing the Entrepreneurial Culture in this region, the Government of Karnataka, Dept. of Industries and Commerce sanctioned a “Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park”- (STEP) during 2000, which has been named in the loving memory of our founder Secretary Sri.HMG as “Gangadharaiah – Memorial Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation Center”-(G-MEDIC). The main objective of the centre is to promote Entrepreneurship among graduates (Science/Technology), in Tumkur district. Since then, It has been conducting various Skill Development Programmes, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes and Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes and other activities for the youth. To promote and further its social commitments, the society has constructed a building for STEP with all necessary infrastructures with a built-up area of 15,000Sq.ft.

In retrospect, Sri.R.V.DESHPANDE, Former Hon’ble Minister of Large & Medium Scale Industries, Govt. of Karnataka laid the foundation stone for the SSIT-STEP Buildings in the presence of the His Excellency, the Governor of Karnataka. During 2001.

In the year 2003, Department of IT&BT (Information Technology & Bio-Technology), Government of Karnataka sanctioned an IT Incubation Center to the STEP. This center provides all requisite environment and facilities to the first generation entrepreneurs in the field of IT to start their own ventures. It may be mentioned here that since 1989, SSIT has germinated itself in community activities and has trained a contingent of trainers for the enforcement of programmes.

G-MEDIC has been recognized as one of the best training centers in the district by various govt. agencies and industry. As on date there are four deferent organs as mentioned below together constitutes as G-MEDIC. The organs and their activities are as follows:

Health Center:

A well furnished & euipped, a primary health center having a plinth area of 360smt is suited in the campus. A health will have well experienced & qualified doctors & staff. The facilities available in the health center are a major operation theater, a preliminary testing laboratory & well furnished wards in case of emergency. All this facilities are extendec to students, staffs & campus inmates.

 

Sports and Recreations:

Fields for Cricket and Football, Bascketball and Vollyball courts, Gymnasium and facilities for Indoor Games.

A Syndicate bank having floor area of 250smt is suited in the entrance of the college campus. It provides basic needs for the students, staff & campus inmates. The facility extend by the bank are ATM & locker facility beyond its regular facilities.

 

Canteen:

Well furnished canteen with attach high tech kitchen with all modern equipments can accomodated 150 members at a time, having seperate accomodation for staff & students.
